there was an article in F.H. about concrete floors as thermal mass on top of wood framing that showed tables for the weight of concrete on conventional framing. My floor is framed with 2×8’s and the span is 10 feet. How much concrete can I put on this ?

Dear Claire,
If you shore underneath during the pour and setup, you can put 2 feet of it, if you want mass.
I'm afraid that there's a lot more to it than having a bunch of concrete for thermal mass.
You really have to know what you're doing and most applications are not cost effective.
Please don't rush into something based on a magazine article which may have nothing in common with your home or lifestyle.
