Recently poured some steps and probably took the forms off about 1 day early. One corner of the step chipped off when removing forms (about the size of a McDonalds burger). I need some ideas to repair this w/o tearing out.

Pete you probably have a Mapei dealer near you or your construction material supplier should know how to contact them.
They have several products that will permanently repair your steps. I can't see your steps or the damage so I won't recommend which to use.
The facts sheets that are available from Mapei will indicate the best to use.
*Pete...you didnt take them off early....you took them off hastily. We pour them in the AM and remove the forms in the PM, same day. got to be carful though. Work it off with a trowel. Use form oil before you pour.

Pete, make a form for the corner out of 1/4" ply. Wedge the ply tightly against the vertical sides of the step. Make sure the ply is standing proud of the tread. Dab the area with concrete glue. Pour self-leveling cement mixed with #20 mesh sand. Walk away for an hour. Carefully, remove forms by sliding up and away. Trowel finish.
Or, you could use ready mix instead of self-leveling.
