Anyone have a good source for a contract for an addition? We have ones for homes and commercial buildings but are going into a decent size addition and ours don’t seem to address some of the items.
Don’t want to have to reinvent the wheel. Any thoughts?
Thanks

I'd get the Contractor's Legal Kit... a Taunton book IIRC.
You don't have to reinvent the wheel, just adapt your existing new home contract for the addition. I assume you have a section that is the scope of work--the description of the job with all the details, or a reference to the plans. That part changes to reflect what you're doing. Most of the rest of the contract should be boilerplate. If there are clauses specific to new homes then those need to be deleted or rewritten.
My contract is several pages of boilerplate. The scope of work, payment schedule, and other terms and conditions are attachments. Depending on what is attached it can cover almost anything we're going to do.
In remodeling, I think the "hidden conditions" clauses should be the things to add to your standard new construction work agreement.
Hopefully he already has a broadly worded clause covering hidden conditions. You never know when there'll be a massive boulder right where the basement is supposed to go, or maybe an abandoned oil tank.
