I’m looking at getting a cordless finish nailer. Can anyone tell me if the Dewalt is a good tool? Or is Paslode the way to go. I once had a Porter Cable Bammer and hated it. Every time I went to use it the gas had leaked out and I had to replace the fuel cell.

I have had the paslode for about 1 1/2 years and I really like it. I have used the dewalt once and my thoughts were it would be ok for a homeowner or occasional use but not for heavy or every day use. The only problem is I am getting spoiled with the convenience of the paslode so I dont pull out my compressor and air finish nailers unless it is a decent size job. Those tools were good to me for so many years and now I feel like I am cheating on them!!!
I've used my Dewalt eveyday for over a year (1 1/2 to be exact). Never had a problem.
Once used it to nail 900 sq' of cypress (3/4") with one and a half batteries.
Never tried a Paslode trim gun, but I do have three Paslode framers. Another good choice.
If you already have 18 volt Dewalt drills then it makes sense to go with them. Otherwise let your conscience be your guide.
I have a cordless Paslode 18 guage finish nailer and really like it. I don't use it every day but I have never noticed any gas leakage from the fuel cell. It's nice and light, easy to load and easy to adjust the shot depth. I've never had it jam. A good friend of mine also has an 18 guage Paslode (his is a little older) and he too really likes it. He has had his jam, but says it is really quick and easy to clear. Other than his jamming ocassionally, neither of us has ever had a problem.
I own some DeWalt tools and think they are high quality and would trust their nailer even though I've never used one.
Ultimately, my suggestion would be to physically pick up each one. (Is there a dealer near you who carries both?) How do they feel in your hand? Could you comfortably use it regularly? Seems to me those subjective values will be the final criteria.
Good luck!
I have the paslode 16 (angled, four years) and 18 ga nailers. I personally like the paslode better than the dewalt because it is smaller and lighter, but it seems the one thing dewalt has going for it over paslode is not needing fuel cells. To me it's worth the trade, but again, I'm used to paslode. Oh, and I would definitely recommend the angled one, it's worth the extra dough.
Peace,
Casey
I like the Paslode's but confess to never using the others so cant give any opinions on them.
I've used my Paslodes for 4 years now and really like them.

I've got 2 Paslode angled finish nailers and I like them. I've only tried the Dewalt in the store and my opinion is that its fine but it would get heavy real fast.
I've also noticed alot of deals on the Dewalts, like trying to get rid of them type deals. FWIW
