I guess nobody knows of one. I suspect that anyone's who has done it was too tired to write a book.
I
i think
FHB had an article that touched on this a year or so ago.
I'd talk to a house moving co for info. Someone did that close to me last year, and it was done by a moving co.

*My neighbor just did that......Had a moving company support the house on large I-beams and then went under it with a crawler/loader to excavate. That and the new walls and floor cost him about 20K.
*Hey, guys, he asked for any good books on the subject. I know one, it's a bit old, but still applicable. My son and I used it as a reference for solving a drainage problem in a low crawlspace in Urbana, IL, and it worked great. My grandsons thought it was a real neat book. Told them all about it while we worked. They made a movie out of it w/ Steve McQueen, James Garner, et al, back in the '50's. It is "The Great Escape," by Paul Brickhill, I think. Read the book, rent the movie, and hire the job done.Don Reinhard
*A friend in San Jose excavated under his Victorian by hand using a conveyor to push the dirt outside. I remember he said he hand-shoveled 99 yards, and would never do it again. He supported the house on cribs while digging, raised the house a few feet, too.Several entries in the FHB magazine index under "basements" along these lines.
*Our old neighbour told us his story about digging out his crawlspace into a basement by hand, pailful by pailful. When it came time for our own decision on this issue, we opted for complete destruction of the existing house. Plenty of room for that backhoe to dig the basement!! Then we re-built the house. Simple!! LOL! :)In our case, the existing house wasn't worth the nails it was held together with. We did consider the lifting house option, but cost would have been high and the house probably wouldn't have survived the process.Do we know how to have fun or what?? Yah, that's it ... fun ...Kath.
