i am wonderng if anyone else remembers an article about making custom sanding blocks with bondo? what do i use for a release agent? i have to fix some moulding details on four columns in a customers house.

CRS strikes again... but I think plastic food wrap would conform nicely to the contours of your material.

What I do for custom sanding blocks is attach a piece of adhesive backed sandpaper to the profile I want to sand, and then sand a piece of styrofoam on that section untill the profile is the same,then use a piece of adhesive backed paper on the styrofoam for the sanding block, it is easy and fast.

I've seen a quick setting putty at the lumberyards that pictures just this application.
*I like to take an old piece of saw blade (spring steel) and grind it to the profile. Saw blade steel makes a great scraper.Ed. Williams
