I wish I had found this site a long time ago, I love it. I started framing this project that includes two small decks with exposed wood. The owner and I agreed it was better to frame and sheath the main house and then attach the decks to it. Problem now it that we don’t know the best alternative. subfloor in main house is 2×8 and decks will be attached to rim joist. I thought of adding 3x min in back side of rim and lag bolt deck ledger to it. One of the decks has a 10ft span and will joisted with 2×8 pressure treated. Any ideas on that guys, please.

If possible drop your ledger so you have a minimum step up to your doors of 4" including your finished decking.
THen you can lag your ledger to your mudsill without adding blocking.
We have lots of ideas.
