I am about to build a deck and am looking at composites and Ipe. One composite that looks good is Cross Timbers by Elk. Anybody had any experience with it? Also how much maintenance is necessary with Ipe? We are in northern Michigan in a snowbelt area so the deck will take a lot of rough weather. Thanks

The IPE is very heavy, and will require pre drilling every hole otherwise you'll snap the screws. You should use the ceramic coated or stainless steel with both.
Mike Smith may be able to point you in the right direction.
