I’m in the process of designing and building a porch for a house that will have exposed 4x or 6x beams resting on 4×4 or 6×6 posts. I would like to use metal connectors, but something more dressed up than your basic Simpson product.
Does anyone know of a source for these? I suppose I could get a metalworker to make me some, but then it seems I’d need to get an engineer involved to make certain my custom pieces were strong enough. Something off the shelf sounds easier. Any suggestions?
Thanks

SIMPSON does make some fancy brackets and hardware for post and beam construction, they're painted black and look decent.
