Want to design a turnabout where you can comfortably back out of garage, with one turn and proceed forward to the street, without having to back all the way to the street. What are the suggested distances between the garage and the end of the pavement directly opposite the garage openings?

Suburban or Mini? My mrs would need 2xcarlength from the front of the garage.
Depends on the vehicle in question. 3' radius. for a moped 30' radius for a fire truck. Tractor trailers a bit more. Easy way to figure is to take the vehicle in question and after having a few beers borrow the neighbors yard for doughnuts. If they are real sports the HOs will hold the dummy end of the tape for you. If they don't I,m sure the police will be glad to in the interest of science.
Actually a 18' radius with a 12' straight lead in is a common figure used for passenger cars when designing a turnaround. I'm not sure how the current trend in county sized SUVs may change this but this served for the pimpmobiles of old pretty well.
Your local library may have a copy of Architectural Graphic Standards- what you need should be in there. If you want a place to park a plane that should be in there, too. ;o)
