I have a problem with my reset botton, I think ..
The compressor is this one http://store.yahoo.com/tylertool/dewd52hp4gal.html
now, I went to my local Dealer, and with their compressor (looks just like mine), the re-set button looks like a hex head bolt. With mine, it seems to be a toggle type switch under a black rubber cover, you can see a closeup of it in pic #32.
No matter how I manipulate that toggle (?) under the rubber cover I can’t get the machine to start. Anyone have any tips about re-setting this beast for me ? If it isn’t the reset, then what else might it be ?

Joe, release some air with the safety ring or a blow gun.See if it starts then. If it starts up the backcheck valve needs to be cleaned or replaced. Follow the tubing to the tank, that screw in connection is the backcheck valve. If I recall I cleaned mine with wd-40.
After releasing air and it doesn't start, check your electrical connections, make sure the house circuit breaker did not trip, should have said that in the first sentence.

In compressories the little check valve doe two things. (1) keeps the tank pressure from acting agianst the cylinder as the compressor runs, and (2) unloads the small amount of compressed air off of the cylinder when the compressor is satisfied. The second function is as important as the first on startup. The little hiss of air you hear when the compressor shut of at pressure is the unloading of the cylinder.

I only have problems with mine in the winter( cold start-ups). I just wiggle the reset , with the main switch turned off and it usually resets. Turn switch back on and its good for the rest of the day usually.
