I’ve read alot about the benefits of composite decking. One thing that is not clear is, does it get dirty/stain enough where a simple wash with the garden hose or pressure washer won’t do? Also, do the “cedar” colored boards fade to grey?
All the literature says it won’t warp or stain but I recently saw a composite deck that was filthy (decking on a porch of a restaurant). I have a pressure washer and am willing to use that if needed.
Also, instead of the grey Trex decking, I’m exploring other manufacturers and colors. I want a nice red cedar color for my deck. Does the color just fade to a less intense red or does it fade to grey like pressure treated wood will?

I built a deck about 6 yrs ago, either Trex or Choice Deck, and it greyed in about 2 yrs. Not as bad as pine, but it was greyer than new.

I used Perfection decking, a material similar to Trex, in a cedar color. The sticker on the decking states to prevent water from being trapped on the decking, as it will stain. When I installed the stuff, the lumber company where I bought it from had stored it outside, so there were stains. It's been almost 2 months, when I went back this last week to put in the exterior door, the stains were still there. And it does fade, though not to a gray, just a paler shade of cedar. (I prefer to call it pink.) Manufacturer states it will fade to a lighter shade, though doesn't state how long it takes.
