I have some laminate counter tops to make, and I will have a few joints to connect. I would rather not have to cut in for draw bolts. I remember seeing something in one of those thousands of cataloges that was screwed and clamped under the top. I cannot find any thing on line, or in any of the thousands of cataloges. Am I loosing it, or has anyone else seen this thing?

Are the tops to big to transport without them being knock downs?
I've built some huge tops w/o draw bolts. Had to rent a truck a few times to haul them, but I avoided all the problems you get with site assembly and drawbolts.
Tell us more.
Yeah, the Rockler thing. But keep in mind you need to make the joint over clear space then, since this device protrudes.
There are a half dozen different variations on the draw bolt, but they all require that you cut in more or less the same amount.
I said "Rockler thing" and assumed that the above link was it, but I can't find it. Maybe it was a McFeelys thing? Two pieces of plastic cut with a scalloped edge. You put one on each side and draw them together with clamps.Another option is to use dowels and glue and attach temporary cleats to the bottom for clamping.
If your view never changes you're following the wrong leader

I've never seen anything that draws the two pieces together other then the tightjoints, dogbones.........which all take a pocket of some sort to use.
If you add something to the bottom that sticks below the bottom surface are you sure that that's not going to get in the way when you install the top?

Here's what you were thinking of:

Thanks all; the thing Dan H found in Mc Feelies is the thing I was looking for.
