I will be needing to drill a hole in a swanstone sink/counter top.Guessing it will be 1 1/2in. diameter.Best methods? Will carbide hole saw do the trick for a one time application? Thanks, Jeff

A Forstener bit works just fine. If you are at all skitterish about the bit skittering, drill a small pilot hole first.
*Thanks, I meant to say a bi-metal hole saw.I don't even know if anyone makes a carbide tip hole saw!Jeff
*Jeff, the holesaw will work fine too.Chuck
*Yes, carbide tipped hole saws are readily available, even in Home Depot.
*I don't use Swanstone specifically, but a holesaw is the only drill approved for most SS. Any chatter, or chatter mark (from another type of drill, or jigsaw, is a no no, and has to be polished out, or risk a stress fracture).
*Adrian, thanks for the heads-up. You may have just saved me buying a sink top in the near future! Jeff
