I recently had a builder do a house to drywall that I’m going to be finishing myself. After having the walls closed up for a couple of months, I’ve just discovered (after a recent hard rain) that the plumbing vents on the metal roof weren’t flashed.
I discovered this by finding a number of different wet spots and/or puddles in the house after the first hard rain.
My builder is now working on fixing this, but his contention is that the wall cavities will dry out fine if the house gets some heat.
My contention is that the only right way to fix this is to open up the affected wall and ceiling cavities, remove any wet insulation, dry out the cavities, and then close them up. I think to do otherwise is to create a mold factory, and isn’t what I paid for.
I’m looking for some advice as to what the right way to fix this is.

If the ceiling insulation is wet it must come out. You'll know if its wet because the sheetrock will disintegreat. I assume the vent stack is thru interior walls with no insulation and wouldn't worry with them to much. If you want to inspect cut a hole at the bottom, that will be covered by the base, if they are wet it should all be at the bottom. Leave open till it dries.
Moisture and humidity is always high in construction where do you think all the water in the drywall mud went? Probably into the dried lumber and plywood.
Don't freak.
