I’m in need of some tips and suggestions to trim out around the inside window sills with drywall. The windows don’t fit perfectly within the rough opening making it hard to get a nice clean reveal. Is there a good way to shim drywall? I am a card carrying DITY (Do-it-to-yourselfer). Thanks

Shim with whatever will work to bring it to the right plane. Wood/cardboard/shim stock/adhesive. Being able to secure the sheetrock to something firm is important. Hold the returns a strong eighth shy of the window and use L-bead (staple it on) to form a nice crisp straight line to finish to. There's "tearaway" L bead which keeps what you're finishing to, clean, then tear the protection away, caulk the transition from drywall/L bead to window.
