Duct Insulation Question – Ells and Tees
I am wanting to insulate a run of ductwork in my house. It is 7″ round sheetmetal about 80′ long with 7 ells and one tee. I am planning on using 2″ foil-faced duct wrap.
The straight runs are pretty simple – the directions on the package do a pretty good job of explaining this and I have an outward clinch staple gun. My problem is what to do at the ells and tees so that the job looks neat and insulates effectively.
What is the best method for making the insulation fit around the curves and of the ells and the joint of a tee? There has got to be some trick to doing this short of just random cutting and taping.
Thanks for any help,
Rob

Wow, this is impossible to explain, but............
And the manufacturer should be able to give you a diagram, have you tried them?
You need to cut out wedge shaped pcs so that when you fold, they don't get in the way. There should be a pattern or template that you could trace on the flat stock, cut out and then fold.
