When you go out to buy a ladder, you can see the duty rating of the ladder is clearly stated, like Type 1A, 250lb. But this not the case for power tools. The power tool company can say whatever they want to say, like ‘the most powerful.., 400
in/lbs, 2HP, 10A, 1300W…. On the other side, we are told to read, understand, and follow their instructions.
Do you see something wrong here?

Yeah the rating plate on power tools is only good for some general comparisons between similar tools and then the HP rating isnt reliable because as I understand there are at least a couple of ways to calculate that . I usually look at the RPM and amp. rating and kinda go from there , usually picking my favorite brand in the end . Chuck
*There is nothing wrong with this. If you are confused, or ifyou need more information, just check the price tag. If something is not clear, remember the price tag has the finalsay.
*I think amps and rpm tell the tale pretty well as far as the motor goes. I try to rely on tool surveys too. I can usually gleen something from them, and sometimes they flat out say when one tool outperforms others. - jb
