Electrical advice: What type of junction box do you use for those vinyl siding j-blocks for outdoor lights? The space is about 1/2″ deep. Is it still ok to use 4″ round ceiling pans? This town requires 12/2 for all light runs.

David, I've seen them set up for Single Gangs, 3 1/2 inch and 4 inch round. Which one are you supplied with?
*I won't use this as a place to vent my feelings on vinyl siding, I've done that.In installing anything over vinyl siding, care must be taken not to restrict the movement of the siding or buckling and failure will occur. Don't try to attach anything to or through the siding. Cut a hole through the siding, mount a 1x block and trim around it with the necessary channel. Then mount the electrical box to the block.

I have the 4"round.
