I have been a kitchen installer for Home depot for the past 13 or so years and they are now beginning to require that we have access to a licensed electrician and plumber. I can see the reasoning behind this and agree. My question is why do most electricians and plumbers tend to avoid any and all work associated the the big boxes?

Because they're cheap, unreliable, and more trouble than they're worth.
I didn't know they avoid the big boxes. Seems to me they would be happy to get in with Da Depo for the guaranteed work and pay. But maybe they don't need it and make more money from their own customer base.
Just a thought. Let some sparkies see this thread and I'm sure you'll get plenty of feedback on the matter.

I have no answer for your question, but a question for you.
How is it working as a HD guy? I really don't like dealing with the HD as a customer, but from the other side , dealing with the average HD customer must be a nightmare.
