end studs to mark or not mark
Another in the series of how do you guys do it.
When laying out wall plates for framing do you make a mark for the end studs.
I prefer to make a mark only when the wall has no stud at the end. I train the help that all walls get end studs unless marked otherwise.
Just wondering what the ratio is to markers to non markers.

We don't mark end studs. I did on the last job because we hired someone new who doesn't have any framing experience.
Actually I don't make any marks at all. I've trained my eye to "see" 16 o.c. and I can just eyeball the studs. Naw, I'm kidding :-)
No
I mark for crew, don't mark alone..
Excellence is its own reward!
I mark 'em. Just habit. I've worked with too many rookies and non-thinkers.
Mark? why? I have always done layout with my fore arm 16" from tip of pinky to tip of elbow measure yours. Sure saves on tapes "DUH WHATS A CUBIT?"
Nope. Unless for some reason there is a double stud at the end of the wall, for something like siding backing at inside corners, or hold-down members.
I mark 'em. But I ain't a perfeshional.
I do it for a couple of reasons. Seems like half the time there's a corner or something at the end, so I mark them. Since I generally do an "L" corner, I also have to make sure of which way it's supposed to be turned.
If I don't make any marks I have to stop and try to remember what's supposed to be there. Seems at my age I have to stop to think more and more........
