A search came up pretty vacant, so here goes:
I’ve been shopping around for exterior doors for my house. I’ve already decided on Anderson Frenchwood patio doors for two openings, but I need a basement double door (6/0 x 6/8) and a single entry door (3/0 x 6/8). The “offerings” from the door manufacturers are generally nothing I’d want – I don’t really want steel or fiberglass doors, and the designs are generally hideous. A custom door is way too costly.
Where can I find some info on building my own entry doors? I’d like to build them out of something rot-resistant like teak or purpleheart, and I have the tools to build them. The lumber cost really isn’t all that much.

I'd find an old example of what interests you and copy it.
A good book, ( which is still packed up sorry) is " Custom doors and windows" I think...Amy Zaffarano..about 20 yrs old..If I ever get it dug out again, I'll post the exact particulars..some of my work was in there..I.E. "Thornhurst" in Centervalley , PA..I did the doors there.
Feel free to email through here if ya need a few pointers, it is no harder than making any other type of stile and rail , panel, or glass construction.
The hardest part is the thinking, the woodworking is simpler than you think.

Make a sweet noise, it might be the last sound you hear
Another thing to consider is getting a great old door from an architectural salvage place, aka wrecking company.
