Hi all-
I’m new here, so forgive me if my protocol is lacking.
My partner and I have a small carpentry/contracting company and have developed an excellent relationship with a customer who interested in investing spare capital into a joint venture in residential construction. I did some online research and found two software programs that claim to help estimate overall construction costs and generate and overall budget.
I was hoping to get some input from others who may have used these softwares as to how effective they are. I’m pretty computer literate, so being complicated isn’t a problem at all.
The software that I’m looking at is
2005 CD Estimator
and
2005 National Home Estimator
I found both at contrator-books.com.
Thanks for any input!
Jen

I was project manager for a job which had its pricing based on software. I can tell you I will never trust it again. the job was a disaster financially, everything was off by a mile as far as costs go.
as I am sure you are well aware, working in the trades is never as cut and dry as punching in some numbers and coming out with your prices. every job is different, and its the little things that will get ya.
