I’m framing screen panels to fit between round tapered columns. How do you scribe and/or mill 5/4″x6″x88″ cedar to vertically fit round tapered columns with a Doric style profile on the base and capital; assuming the center of the columns are in line with the existing handrails. The radius on the one side of the frames are approximately 2″ off center of diameter to clear existing handrails. Also, are there any alternative contour gauges that are longer than 6″ in length and have longer pin rods to keep contour shape more stable when transfering scribe? Moving handrails off center and covering faces of columns are not an option to the client.

Sounds like work for a router/shaper tool. Go over to the woodworking forum, they know all about those things...
*Mark,You would make life easier for yourself by using a composite instead of a solid 1 1/4" stock. Use 1/2" x 6" and add a 3/4 by 3/4 along both edges. This will make scribbing and shaping much easier.Gabe
