I have run across two projects recently where 1/4 inch thick fiber cement board was used as a bullding cladding, screwed to wood or metal studs. One brand was “Viroc,” (“cement-bonded particleboard”) but I was unable to identify the other. The cracks looked to me like stress cracks resulting from thermal or moisture expansion and contraction. Any advice on what precautions to take when replacing the panels to avoid the cracking problem??
