I’m planning on building a house next year, mainly by myself. For the second story and gable ends of the first, I like the look of shingles or board and batten siding, but as I live in fire country, I’d like to use fiber cement products to achieve this look. It seems that James Hardie is the dominant supplier in the field, but I’m looking for something that I can use a solid color stain on, rather than paint. Does anyone have any experience using fiber cement products that don’t require painting? Thanks-
Basil

I am just about ready to order the redwood/mahogony combo Jim used to do the siding on the top floor of our house.
