Im finshing the interior of my newly installed Andersen 400 series windows. They’re stained with min wax oil base stain. Any recommendations for a final coat? I’ve used Bullseye shellac on a few projects. I like the looks, dries quickly and cleans up easily but I don’t think it offers any UV protection. Should that even be a concern with Andersens low e glass? My other choices would be Minwax poly or varathane unless somebody here knows of something better. As an aside, I noticed on the awning and casement windows that if a window is open, untreated wood is somewhat exposed to the elements. This is where the vinyl clad part of the actual window seals against the interior trim. Obviously if the window is closed it is of no concern. Should this area at least be stained to offer a modicum of protection?
Thanks, Craw

craw... i don't know about your first ?... but as to the 2d:
the trim on the casements and awnings is just held on with a couple finish nails, we always pry them off carefully and back prime and finish before we reinstall them..
makes a cleaner job..

Thanks for the reply Mike, I wish I would have posted the question before I nailed those things on LOL. Thanks anyway though. I think I'll just use the minwax poly urethane. take care . Craw
