Can anyone here recommend an air intake vent for a fireplace floor that doesn’t look too bad? 6″ pipe is already in the floor, and the vent needs to have a damper.
Thanks.

Skim-coating with joint compound covers texture, renews old drywall and plaster, and leaves smooth surfaces ready to paint.

Already in the floor? What is the floor? Non-combustable I trust. Does the existing 6" consist of something similar to dryer ducting (solid metal)? I worked at a place that used slidegates in ducting instead of a dampners. FYI, an RV has a version of a slidegate that is opened to dump its holding tanks. I'll see if I can run down an example for you. Whether it looks "not too bad" is rather subjective. If you could install it from below (aka the basement) looks wouldn't matter. If you have a raised platform and the pipe is in it, ditto--just run a shaft to the side of the platform, install knob--done. If it is just going to sit horizontally under the stove, slide gates are not very thick. Chrome plate it?
