Does anyone know of a metal fireplace that has the firebrick look inside, woodburning and large with the opening something like 48″wide x 48″ high. The look i’m trying to get here is like one of those old country type FP like you would see in the old kitchens. I want to be able to cook in this fireplace also. I don’t have the foundation for a brick FP and besides I’m trying to save money and time.
Thanks

Lee, since most municiplities have banned the open woodburning stove and since you desire this feature, I'd think you won't be able to find a unit that meets your price expectation.
There are woodburning units still made, they are rather pricey. Unless, you look in the garage sales and the like. You know, shop for a used unit. More often than you may think, people are changing out an older unit to upgrade. The best deal is a unit that doesn't meet the current air quality standards and the seller--private party--is looking to dump his older unit.
You also state you are trying to save money AND time; well, I'd say the chips are stacked against you there.

Thanks Rich
I'm not looking for a woodburning stove, but a extremely large metal FP. You know what they used to call a hearth fireplace where you can hang pots in it for cooking. The opening needs to be somewhere around 4'x4' I can get a 42" wide by 27" high metal FP, but I have not seen larger. The problem I have with metal firplaces in general are the height is too low.
Anyother suggestions without building a brick FP?
Thanks
Lee
