Fixing Electric brake on chop saw

I have a Hitachi 15″ Miter saw that I use for crown moulding, railings and other trim work. The problem is the blade brake works about half the time. It has progressively become worse. Anyone know how to fix this? I really do not want to send it in and be without the saw . Thanks for the help.
