Hi, had a torch down roof applied to a garage two years ago with the intent of putting in a “green roof” later. Well it is now later and I notice that one lower corner of the torch down has a “bubble” of water under it. Can I slit open this area, get water out and then melt the slit I made back together? I have not worked with this stuff before and most articles about it start with the author wanting to be listed as your next of kin in your will before you start so that when you kill yourself and burn down the building they can collect. Is it really that bad?
Thanks

I had a torch down roof installed when I built my home. I was able to do small modifications and repairs when the roof was new by using a propane torch. After a time (10 years) I found this did not work as well. I spoke with the roofer and was informed that for small repairs you could use polyurethane calk for anything larger melt on a patch of new material. The torch down material is not terribly volatile but it will burn and so will the underlying materials. So, keep a garden hose handy and be careful, unless you use poly calk then just don’t get any on ya, its tuff to get off.

Just slit it, and dry it out, then cut a new piece of same material so it will lapp a good foot on both sides of the slit. lay it upside down immediately next to, and heat it with a weed burn torch until it flows and flip it into place. You will want good gloves for this.
