I am building a floor on grade for an ICF single-story home (no basement). I propose to do this using treated lumber as if it were a permanent wood foundation. Has anyone done this in a cold climate? What type of insulation did you use? Did you ventilate, and if so, how? Any particular problems? Any tips?

I built a small shop in Pinedale Wy.(70mls south of JacksonHole)for myself. Laid treated 6x6's for the floor joists, on grade, then put SIP panels (structual insulated panels)for the floor. Gave me r-26 on the floor, didn't have to worry about criters getting into the insulation. Any SIP company can help you with the loads, for your floor. Hope this helps.
*Thanks for the sip idea. People are really stuck in a rut about concrete floors -- cows don't even like to stand on them if they have a choice. It baffles me why stained concrete floors are in style... maybee my legs are just getting older. Oh well, thanks.
