Floor on slepers in finished basement
Hi y’all:
I’m a machinery mechanic with just enough home construction knowledge to be dangerous. Lived in a 1970 colonial about a year with concrete floor basement which has stayed dry. Does not have sump. Property has good drainage. Want to finish about 2/3 of basement for kids. Already installed flitch plates on main beam and took out 2 lolly columns.
Question is floor construction. Thinking to put carpet over ply over 2 x 4 sleepers laid on thier sides. Have remington nail shot gun to put sleepers down. Have seen “Dricore” but don’t really think I need it.
Do I need to use P/T lumber? Need to provide drainage cuts under sleepers? Also, is there a better way to find high spot of floor besides laying out all sleepers and putting a board across them? Any help to work smarter is appreciated!
