Crain makes a flush cutting circ saw to trim door jambs. Would that work? many rental places have them.

can't find a rental in my area.probably will work though,i'll try it if i can get one.
the one i was talking about attaches to your circular saw past the guard and my come with an adapter to mount a new guard, saw it in an old fine homebuilding ad.,i think.anyone remember who made it?
Was it for a Milwaukee circ saw?
I used to see an ad for a flush cutting attachment for a milwaukee with a company name of Flussa. Don't know if that's what you were thinking of or not...
no,that's not it either.but thanks anyway!!
They do not make those any more.

I think this is ~$100
Makes me count how many fingers I have left just looking at the ad.
It does look a little unsafe, doesn't it?

I saw the flush cutting attachment a few months back in a JLC article on seismic retrofits:

On page 8, the author uses it to flush cut the mudsill in order to nail the shear wall into it instead of into blocking. I guess for that application it's an elegant solution, but he doesn't mention the number of fingers lost.
That man has probably had that blade from years ago. I remember when those were sold. When I looked at getting one years ago, the supplier told me they were not selling them anymore because they were outlawed at that time.

OK I will ask the usual question, what are you looking to do with it?
I use the Bosch fine cut for a lot of things. Some where I saw a recip saw blade with an offset (dogleg) that would work for some tasks. I have bent some (usually not on purpose) to do an offset cut.
That Fussa looked like a nightmare, something Freddy Krueger might have in his truck.
