You can just add this onto the thread that you already started.
You'll confuse people by starting a new thread every time you need to add something.
Just go into the thread that you started and hit the reply button, you will get a clean slate to put whatever you want in.
Didnt you get notices from the people that responded to your initial posting on the miter saw?
Doug
Thanks for the coaching. Is there a way to erase the post that I created?
By me responding is just adding to it!
Just let it die, it will.
Go back and post the link in the initial thread.
Or, do a search and find out all kinds of info on chop saws.
I don't think you can go wrong with the Hitachi though, I used to use one all the time at a previous place of employment, liked it a lot.

You might want to post this in the thread you started, but I'll respond here anyway. I've had that saw for a year an a half, use it for exactly the same things you do, and can't say enough good things about it. Love it. Try the search function here if you want to see a bunch of other opinions, and there are plenty of other good saws out there, but this one is excellent.

Mike, How do you like the degree scale with the 10th pitch layout marks?

OK, there are a couple of things about the saw I'm not crazy about, the bevel scale being too cluttered is one. Most of my work is either exactly or very close to 90 or 45 degrees, though, so the pitch marks don't get in the way. For other angles I don't usually bother with the scale or an angle finder, I just scribe the line I want to cut and use the laser to line up the blade.
One other thing that can be annoying is that the dust bag actually works too well, if you can believe it. When using the saw a lot you have to empty the bag frequently, so we just end up taking it off and blowing dust everywhere. If it just didn't work so well we wouldn't have to find a place to store the bag!

The only other one I would consider besides your choice is the Bosch. Look at it pretty good before you make your final decision. It's a good one.
