Second time I have posted this. First was lost in the Twilight Zone Plan on making a second story addition to my lawn shed. Bottom will house lawn and garden,(hopefully one day a tractor {please Santa!} original for junk. One half of upstairs will be a deck and the other half will be what holds all the junk on the deck. (I got that part figured out) I am having problems seeing the roof detail for the “tie-in”. I see the back of the second story witha ridge like a cricket hitting the existing ridge. But what to do with the cornice as it meets new construction has me bogged down. Do I continue the fascia another foot and return it to the new wall of the new construction. It is the hip of the existing that is stumping me. Cant visualize it.

Are you truly serious? Are you really planning to add a second story to a garden shed? Because adding a second story to a structure that has little or no foundation is kinda not like FINE Homebuilding.
Or maybe your garden shed is different than most?

I'm unsure if he's building it on that slab as a 2 story or on top of that "building" next to the slab.
No no no. First off, the existing is on a slab as well, but I am leaving it alone. I am attaching nest to it on the slab I poured. 16x26 feet. That is the one that will be 2-story.
I think you have answered your own question. You can make the new shed wall in line with the existing and do a small return detail where the existing hip extends past the wall. Alternatively you could cantilever the second floor of the new shed and the existing fascia could butt into the new siding. That's the way I visualize it anyway. I'd draw it if my computer skills were more finely honed.
