Wanting to re-do framing on front door, so that it can be symmetrical with porch and sunburst under new roof.
Two story, load bearing, with 3-0 door with side lites. Is there a way to use a Simpson type hanger or condense
jack studs to metal support on one side to move the door over 1.5″? Haven’t opened up the interior wall yet , but the
roof is framed and shingled.
Thanks, Ed

Certainly possible to move the door. How easy is the question. It may be that it's off-center because of some framing member in the way.
There are hangers you could use to eliminate the need for a jack stud on one side and gain you 1.5", but generally they require access from both sides, and I suspect you don't want to take the siding off.
Take a look at
Simpson HUC style hangers. You would not have to remove siding but you would have to be able to drop the header into the hanger, because the hanger installs first.
There probably isn't much load on the door header in that structure. The roof load is being spread out by the second story wall and the rim joist above the door. It also looks like there's a window above the door/roof?
Thanks for the input-will visit the local offical downtown and check on the Simpson. Probably want to re-do the framing inspection.
You're right on the house being five-four and a door. And as a plus neither the ceiling or the sunburst is installed, so just making the usual mess inside-the DW should be acclimated to that aspect after twenty plus working on this place. And I'd feel more secure to have a temp wall in position.
PS we're not having anyone over for dinner for a couple of weeks anyway.
