I just put up some Cement Fiber Shingle siding to replace cracked shingles on a house. Long story, but there’s 1/4″ gap between a few of the new, nailed-up shingles. The correct route is to cut new ones that fit better, but a new box of shingles costs $110. So, I’d rather fill in the gaps with some kind of “caulk” or such, unless that’s absolutely not recommended. Is filling gaps that size okay? And if so, what should a fill them with? (I’ll be painting them next.) Thanks from a newby DIYer!
