I have been looking for a garage door that has three things: 1) insulated, 2) does not cost an arm and a leg, 3) does not look like every other garage door in the world. It seems that every manufacturer uses the same mold – a raised panel insulated steel door. I like the looks of the wood / particle board doors witht he longer flat panel insets, but they are not insulated. [and my wife voted againest me doing ht einsulation after the fact]
Any ideas, options, sources, help
Thanks

I had a custom CEDAR door made. It wasn't cheep.
1,500.00!! The door is like 2.5" thick,it will not dent
or delaminate. just keep it stained and it looks like
a 100!! And when you pull in someone's driveway what do
you see?? A piece of tin like every else has got, or, a
TOTALY AWSOME ,STAINED,CEDAR,GARAGE DOOR, that will BLOW
YOU AWAY!!!!!!
Well What can I say, I'm jusst a wood kind of guy
that can't spell.
*Doug:My wife and I have drooled over some doors made by Designer Doors, Inc. try their site at http://www.designerdoors.com.I have not ordered or installed any of them, just like the way they look. Good LuckDog

MadDog, you actually drooled? Over a garage door? Your wife too? For shame.
*MD, I spec'd some doors there, also at Hahn's. Designer doors seems to be a better value, and they have some terrific looking doors! But even then, they ain't cheap. Compared to the old wood panel doors that everyone used to use (that lasted for 20 years and were warranted for 3 months), these fancy doors are awfully expensive. But they do look good.

Rich:
I do a pretty fair amount of drooling, so it's not too
unusual. I'll be out on a limb here, but if you check out
my post "Electricians figure this one out" you'll probably
come to the same conclusion as me: Garage door drooling is
now out. Will have to save all excess saliva for new
electricals.
