Anyone know of an actual name brand halogen work light that’s worth what’s paid for it? I wish to install a few around the perimeter ceiling in my garage so that I can see more than the standard bare bulbs provide for light. I used to, in a previous life, guiltily sell some made in sweat shop countries whose lenses would fall out on the floor when trying to change the bulbs. You had to spot weld the lenses with silicone caulk between bulb changes. The “brand names” would change with every shipment. What never changed were the cheap cardboard boxes they came in, all saying “Made in China.” We also had about a 25% mortality rate before they made the retail shelf, but they were so cheap, we still made a profit on the remainder. Would have posted in “Tools,” but thought this was a better place, given the subject.

Barry, check "Halogen Worklights" in the Breaktime archives for some posts that appeared on this subject back in January.
Good luck,
*I would think that standard fluorescent tubes are better for general area illumination. Those halogens run real hot and eat power.
*go with the fluorescent lights. I have 5 8' double bulb fixures in my garage and have plenty of light. Some people prefer 4' tubes because they're easier to handle.Good luck,John
*Definetly go with the fluorescent lights, make sure to go with the high output electronic ballasts, I like the 8' myself
