Have a 22 x 24 detached garage that I am going to finish the interior. The roof trusses are 24″OC and the height of the walls are 10 ft.
Can I use 1/2″ drywall on the ceiling or will it sag? I will be hanging this myself and would like to avoid the weight of 5/8″ rock. Thanks- Paul

you could strap the ceiling if you really wanted to use 1/2". I'd advice against using 1/2"at 24" O.C. Then again it is a garage.
If you use 5/8", or 1/2" for that matter, rent a sheetrock lift if you plan on doing it yourself, it will be money well spent. You can acheive the same end result with a few T-Braces, but a lift makes the whole project that much easier.
If I were to strap the trusses what would you recommend, the trusses are 2 x 6's
I'd do it. I have, and have never seen a sagging problem that everyone warns against - using Johns-Manville Spider blown-in fiberglas. maybe it's just lighter and fluffier?
