I’m wondering about using Hardi-Plank as facia board.
Present setup is aluminum wrapped over wood and alumininum gutters.
I’m needing to remove the facia wrap because the soffits are being redone and the facia wrap had intergral channels for the aluminum cladding that covered the soffits. (All the soffit cladding has been removed.)
I’m in the process of adding conitnuous vents to the 2′ wide soffits and this is causing the chain reaction – remove the facia wrap, which requires removing the gutters, etc.
While I’m at it should I consider replacing the wood facia with Hardi-Plank ? Is it sturdy enough to hold up gutters ?
With a hip roof we have looong lengths of gutters.
Thanks for you help.

I have used hardi-plank for facia many times. it is an excellent product for that particular application.
The hardi plank itself will not hold a screw so your gutter guy will have to use long enough screws to go through into the sub-facia.
*Alan, in one word, no. hardieplank does not have good stability, use 1/2" plywood, then hardieplank on top. this also gives the gutter screws someplace to grab. and remember to stagger the joints of ply and hardieplank.good luck with u'r installation.
*There's also Hardi-trim, thicker stuff.
