My HVAC contractor is doing the heat gain/loss calculation for an install for me and has asked me to review the data he input for the program that is based manual ‘J’. His square footage was different from the square footage stated on the plan set. It appears that this is because the plan set sq. ft. number includes the thickness of the outside walls. My question is: Should the square footage include the exterior walls for the manual ‘J’ calculation?
Some of the above terminology may not be exactly correct, but for those versed in this area, I’m sure you will know what I am referring to.
Or, if any of you know of any HVAC forums, please give me the URL.
