I’m putting the finishing touches on my 36′ I 52′ gambrel roofed 2 story barn here in Connecticut. I’ve insulated the gambrel with R-30 (10″ deep joists) and the gable ends with R-19. The second floor is clear (trusses are 17′ above the floor) and is going to be my wood working shop.
Coming from Arizona, I didn’t give a lot of thought as to how I was going to heat the second floor. I planned on using infrared heaters, but the manufacturer told me any sawdust in the air could start a fire.
I borrowed a torpedo heater and it worked fine, but the noise and kerosene fumes almost did me in. I’m looking into a propane fired unit heater, such as a iodine, but I’d think I’ll ask the experts.
Any suggestions?
