Hello fellow craftsfolk,
I have to bid and build a curved wall and turrent. I was hoping that some one out there could give me a few pointers on both. The structure is to be approximately 1/4 of a circle where it meets the roofline it meets it in a inside corner approximately 12 inches in from the rake eave apex on both sides. One wall is 7'6" the other is 12' so it will be a little bit off kilter Im grabbing a diameter of approximately 16'. There is to be a 6/12 pitch on the turrent roof. I was thinking using 3 layers of 1/4 inch plywood to make the roof deck the roof is to be either fake or real slate. II've done slate work on hipped turrents before but not a total cone. But alas theres just something I love about a challange. So any information on building the actual turrent would be greatly appreicated. Also I need to build a aproximately 8' header in the curved wall for a header. Oh yea he also wants the ceilings inside to be vaulted somewhat sometimes I really wonder how I can get in this predictament. But it promises to be a challange and that is the melody of life. I would also apprieciate some rough idea on what this job would be worth. Thanks all

*Blacky,There is an excellent article in the book Advanced Framing: Thchniques, Troubleshooting, & structural design published by the Journal of light construction. Actually, there are two that might be of assistance. One deals with the framing of curved walls, and the other deals specifically with conical roofs. I bought mine for $24.00 at Woodworkers Warehouse, but you can probally find the article archived online. Good louk!
