Hello all. This is my first post, so bear with me. I need to cut hinge mortises in some interior doors that I’ve built. I have 15 doors and figured purchasing a mortising template would be the way to go. Most of what I’ve read says the Bosch 83038 is the best on the market. I also read that you must use a Bosch router and bearing guide with this template. I’m just wondering if anyone can confirm this as I would rather not have to purchase another router. Any thoughts on this? Thank you very much. Dave

I bought the bosch last spring and it has worked great for me. You can use any router with it , you just need the right diameter bearing guide. Ive been using a PC with mine. cheers ........rik.......
It is easier if you buy a very, very small router, like a three quarter hp PC. Using a big 3 hp monster will not be good.

Thanks for the feedback. I think I'll order one of those templates today. Spidey
A smaller, lighter router would make the work alot less arduous.
If all the mortises are the same spacing, or even if their not, make your own template out of plywood and a 1x4.
Even if you never use it again, you'll have a really cool object to hang from the rafters in the shop.
