A few weeks ago I posted a method for making good, homemade Multimaster blades using sections of a 1″ wide bi-metal hacksaw blade welded to a mount I make out of 16 ga. steel.
I use both 14 tooth and 18 tooth blades. They cut wood very well and go through nails easily without damaging the blades.
I had trouble posting a picture before. The blades are tack welded to each other on both sides. The weld doesn’t look so good in this picture because my little gas wirefeed was out of gas. I used a .045 flux core to do this, so it’s not very neat looking. I give the spots a lick with a small grinder to bring them flush with the surface. The newest ones look like they came out of the factory.
This is a good way to make inexpensive blades that last.

Nicely done, your weld looks much better than the price tag on the new blades
No one should regard themselve as "God's gift to man." But rather a mere man whos gifts are from God.
