We are in the process of remodeling our bathroom. The shower is not a conventional shape and will require hot mopping for the pan. The hot mop is to extend 12 inches up the wall. My problem is our tile setter states that the intersection of the cultured marble shower sides and the tile on the shower floor is not doable. Are there ways to make this intersection work?

Let me get this straight:
1. You are hot mopping a shower, something that the Tile Council of America ("TCA") does not endorse, because it does not meet their guidelines. Hot mopping went out of favor about 10 years ago.
2. Your tile setter agrees with that procedure.
3. No one has apparently heard of CPE.
4. Your tilesetter doesn't know how to do the transition between the walls and the floors.
5. You post this question on the internet to a bunch of computerfreak contractors or whannabees for assistance to help your tile contractor, who doesn't know how to do the job.
My advice? Get a new tile setter.
Or really amuse us with a post of the same question to http://www.jlconline.com/forums/tile/
I'd love to see the response you get there.
I may be coming off like a wiseguy, and mean you no disrespect, but I haven't seen a decent tile setter do a hot mop job in about 6 years. CPE was invented about 15 years ago, and it did take about 5 years for it to catch on, but it is so superior to fricking tar that it isn't even funny.
I have serious doubts about your tile setter, and while we could all talk about the gap betweent the walls and the floor (how big, what to fill it with, and what kind of caulk to use) my impression is that there are more fundamental questions to be addressed, like a hot mopping tile setter that doesn't know how to do this joint and has the homeowner ask the question on the internet!
