I am grouting my new countertop I just built. 12 inch polished porcelin tiles with 1/8 inch spacing, non-sanded grout.
The grout is flat I would like to make it gloss. Will the sealer help?
I also find that the grout came out cupped not flat. I filled a plastic bag and cut off the tip – like I was icing a cake – and added grout that way. I tried to fill the gap with the float or my finger but it often removed some of the grout I just put in. I found the sponge often removed too much grout also.
Can I simply add more grout over the grout I just installed?
What’s the correct way to do this job?

you can add grout if you do it with-in 24 hours.
Find a hard rubber float or a hard ruber squeegi and strike the joints diagonally. Don't wipe with a sponge. let the grout haze over. buff the tile with a dry cloth.
Chances are. your grout joint will still come out concave...............as they should.
Good luck
Hello all,
My wife noticed some things with our new tiled bathroom. Some of the joints where the floor meets the wall have small gaps with no grout. How can I get the grout into such a small gap. Should I use a caulk instead? Also noticed that some of the grout joints in the wall have some small voids. How can I get them smooth?
Thanks in advance, Turtleboy
You have base board?

No base boards......yet, but I'll have to see what the wife would like. How would I attach tile over tile like a using tile for the baseboard.
You can either grout or caulk. Evidently this is a pretty small space we're talking about.
Just work the grout into where you want it to be. You can have colored to match sanded or non-sanded Latex caulks. This is by far the easyest method.
As far as using tile for base board... Put it up with wall mastic. Don't take a short cut by trying to grout the base with the caulk. You will not be happy. Do it the real way. Use the matching caulk on intersectionsand at the top of the tile where it meets the wall.

Thanks for the info, I'll go over it with the boss/wife.
