Our Lowes orders post formed laminate and it is delivered in a truck that s well padded.
The laminate sections are not packaged in any way. they are loose and are unloaded in the lowes receiving area. Multiple items in one order are stacked on each other on a cart with nothing between them. Forklifts fly back and forth. it sits around til they call you.
Why dont they package the sections?

Packaging would cost more money & then lowes could not give you their "promise" of the LOWEST price guarenteed
"whats it like where you are"
Lowes is about a mile away from the local yard where I order laminate countertops.
At about the halfway point between Lowes and the local yard is the Hartson-Kenndy plant where the counter top is manufactured. Once upon a time (before my entry into the trades) one could get the counter from Hartson-Kennedy direct. But no more.
I did once special order a sheet of laminate from Lowes. They have sheets laying flat on a rack in the store, but I wanted a different pattern. Anyways, the order came in and they called me. I went to get it and it took about a half hour for them to find it. It was rolled up and put into a box...the Lowes folks were looking for a long flat piece.
